Ureteroscopy (URS) is used to treat stones in the kidney and ureter. URS involves passing a very small telescope, called an ureteroscope, into the bladder, up the ureter, and into the kidney. The ureteroscope maybe semi rigid or flexible, usually 2-3 mm diameter and reaches the stone anywhere in ureter or even in kidneys. The lithoclast or laser passed through it breaks the stone under vision and can be removed totally without any harm to surrounding tissue or even without incision and sutures.
